From September 11 to 13, RECONMATIC members from the Laboratory of Building Construction and Building Physics and Icatalist actively participated in the third CircularB COST Action Management Committee (MC) and Working Groups (WGs) meeting at Istanbul Technical University. Both RECONMATIC and CircularB are key members of the Circular Construction Cluster, which is collectively dedicated to advancing circular practices in the construction industry.
Key Contributions from RECONMATIC Members
Representing RECONMATIC, Katerina Tsikaloudaki, who also co-leads CircularB’s WG1, joined the meeting with CircularB member Theodoros Theodosiou, while Elena Goikolea Güemez joined online. Their participation centred on strengthening collaboration between RECONMATIC and CircularB, focusing on several strategic topics:
Development of Circularity Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Tsikaloudaki, Goicolea and Theodosiou engaged with CircularB members to advance KPIs critical for measuring circularity in construction, aligning with the goals of both projects and the Circular Construction Cluster.
Educational Material and Training Initiatives: They discussed educational resources and training modules currently in development, designed to enhance awareness and knowledge of circular construction practices across the industry.
Progress on CircularB Deliverables: Tsikaloudaki, as WG1 co-leader, presented updates on Deliverable 3, which focuses on identifying technical challenges to implementing circular strategies, and participated in discussions on Deliverable 2, an in-depth review of circularity across various construction stages.

The CircularB COST Action is structured into four specialized Working Groups, each targeting critical aspects of circularity in construction:
WG1: Focuses on creating innovative approaches and identifying best practices for integrating circularity in building design and construction.
WG2: Analyzes the value chain for circular buildings, materials, and components to ensure comprehensive sustainability across the construction process.
WG3: Dedicated to developing key performance indicators (KPIs) that evaluate the circularity of new and existing buildings, providing measurable benchmarks for sustainability.
WG4: Responsible for promoting CircularB’s impact through targeted dissemination activities, enhancing awareness of circular construction’s benefits.
Strengthening Synergies within the Circular Construction Cluster
